vixy: (Adams - madman)
So you may remember a few weeks ago, when Mitch McConnell outrageously silenced Senator Elizabeth Warren from speaking on the senate floor, there was a movement to flood McConnell's office (as well as those of Trump, Bannon, and Graham, the latter because he said "she had it coming") with postcards bearing a version of McConnell's own quote:  "NEVERTHELESS, WE PERSIST." (If you missed it, Uncle Google will tell you all.)

I've found that I like postcards generally for sending messages of both resistance and support. The more they hear our voices, the better! Calls are good, but sometimes you don't get through, and some people have difficulty making calls. Long letters are good, but easy for the recipient to TL;DR, and some people get bogged down trying to write them. Postcards can get across a short and sweet message that's hard to ignore, because they've already read it before they have time to put it down.

Examples:
"NEVERTHELESS, WE PERSIST."
"Your election was not legitimate."
"We do not agree with your racist policies."
"NO BAN NO WALL"
"You do not represent me."
And today's card to Sessions: "You should resign."

Say whatever you think. (Don't be threatening, as that's actually a federal offense.) Their office mailing addresses are easy to find online. I've started a list for myself just so I don't have to google every time.

It's also a good idea to send postcards to reps who are doing a good job, to express your gratitude and support. Thank them if they voted against racist nominees or worked against oppressive policies. Encourage them to keep doing so. (Also you can find a whole host of custom postcards on shops like zazzle and etsy, if that's your thing. Also, postcard stamps are slightly cheaper than letter ones & are available at the post office in sheets of 20.)

I've started sending postcards at least a couple times a week. I encourage everyone to join me. Let's raise our voices to flood the offices of the people who are supposed to represent us.
